2025 Keynote Speaker: Doug Blandy
Doug Blandy is Professor Emeritus in the College of Design and the Folklore and Public Culture Program at the University of Oregon (UO). His research and teaching focus on art education in community-based contexts, emphasizing inclusive, lifelong learning. He explores the intersections of art, education, community, and place, with particular attention to participatory, culturally democratic, and community-centered arts programs.
Doug is vice-president of the UO Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art Leadership Council and a board member of DanceAbility International. He is a past Chair of the National Art Education Foundation. His most recent publications include Arts in Healthy Aging (Oxford University Press, 2024), co-authored with Patricia Lambert and Margaret Wyszomirski, and Promoting Civic Engagement Through Art Education: A Call to Action for Creative Educators (Routledge, 2025), co-edited with Flávia Bastos.
